Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police say they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior official commented the incident left him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine people by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
